Top Pros Headline Tournament at TBarM

Kei Nishikori, a former top-5 player and veteran of several Grand Slam events, is the top seed in this week’s RBC Tennis Championships of Dallas.

The RBC Tennis Championships of Dallas will serve up its 20th anniversary when the annual men’s professional tournament starts on Monday at TBarM Racquet Club.

The singles field for the ATP Challenger Tour event will be headlined by Japanese star Kei Nishikori, who is ranked No. 24 in the world. Nishikori, 28, is a former top-5 player who is recuperating from a wrist injury that sidelined him for several months, and the local tournament is part of his preparation for a return to the ATP World Tour.

The second seed is American standout Frances Tiafoe, 24, a Maryland native who is perhaps best known for pushing Roger Federer to five sets in the second round at the U.S. Open in September. Also entered is Taylor Fritz, a young American player who was the Junior U.S. Open champion in 2015. Both Tiafoe and Fritz are ranked in the top 100 in the world.

The tournament features 32 singles players and 16 doubles tandems, with championship matches slated for Saturday. The tournament website will be updated throughout the week with match schedules and scores, plus ticket information.
