Highland Park remained in playoff contention in District 15-5A with a 56-51 upset win over first-place Lovejoy on Tuesday.

The Lady Scots (11-14, 5-3) took an early double-digit lead before Lovejoy battled back. However, HP stayed tough down the stretch on its home floor.

Mary Warriner Kemp led all scorers with a career-high 24 points, and freshman Ella Patterson added 15 as the Lady Scots avenged a loss to the Lady Leopards in the district opener five weeks earlier.

HP also bounced back from a 72-37 defeat against Wylie East on Jan. 12, during which Kemp tallied a team-high 14 points. Next up, the Lady Scots will travel to North Forney on Friday.
