Skulduggery of the week: Resale Value

At 11 a.m. on Nov. 12, an employee of Loro Piana at Highland Park Village reported 19 items missing after a routine check of store inventory. The employee suspected a former employee who resigned this summer to work at another clothing store in the Village. This suspicion was confirmed when the merchandise was found on eBay, along with items from the current store where the ex-employee works. Combined with 10 missing items from a prior inventory, the total value of the stolen merchandise is $24,796.

HIGHLAND PARK

10 TUESDAY
Between 10 p.m. on Nov. 9 and 6 a.m. on Nov. 10, a thief entered an unlocked black 2003 Jeep Wrangler in the 4600 block of Edmondson Avenue and stole the glove box, which included a $50 iPhone charger and various papers. A neighbor later found the glove box in a front yard down the street and returned it.

11 WEDNESDAY
At 2:25 a.m., Mahmoud Reza Asefi, 25, of Dallas was arrested in the 4100 block of Wycliff Avenue on charges of marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

At 3:06 p.m., two shoplifters stole a $425 beige scarf from Escada at Highland Park Village.

At 6:30 p.m., a resident of the 4500 block of Westway Avenue reported the theft of an ATM card number, which was later found to have withdrawn $19,775 during the past several weeks from ATM locations in Dallas, Miami, and Yuma, Ariz.

12 THURSDAY
Between 6:15 and 8 p.m., a thief stole a white 2015 Mercedes sedan in the 4300 block of Belclaire Avenue. The owner parked the car with a valet at DFW Airport that morning, then flew back into Love Field that afternoon and arranged to have the car delivered to Highland Park. After it was stolen, an officer discovered the license plate was run by the Lewisville Police Department about 4 p.m., but it’s unclear what that mysterious instance might have to do with the theft.

13 FRIDAY
At 1:04 a.m., Rex Alan Green, 33, of Beach City was arrested in the 4600 block of Mockingbird Lane on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

UNIVERSITY PARK

9 MONDAY
At 9:31 a.m., a resident of the 3400 block of Granada Avenue reported the theft of a $1,400 Public Commuter girls bicycle and a $600 Cannondale boys bicycle from a porch sometime between Nov. 1 and Nov. 8.

At 3:30 p.m., Margaret L. Roberts, 41, of University Park was arrested in the 3700 block of McFarlin Boulevard on a public intoxication charge.

At 10:24 p.m., a Houston resident reported the theft of a third-row seat and a $20 iPhone charger from a tan 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe in the 3200 block of Stanford Avenue sometime between Nov. 5 and Nov. 8.

11 WEDNESDAY
Between Nov. 5 and Nov. 11, a thief stole $28,500 worth of jewelry from a house in the 3200 block of Southwestern Boulevard.

12 THURSDAY
Between 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 11 and 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 12, a burglar broke into a black 2010 Chevrolet Suburban in the 4400 block of Hanover Street and stole the third-row seat.

13 FRIDAY
At 5:36 p.m., Damon J. Taylor, 39, of Lexington, Ky., was arrested in the 2700 block of Amherst Avenue on a charge of soliciting without a permit.

14 SATURDAY
At 4:27 p.m., a thief stole a $200 Tory Burch wallet containing $100 in cash from an unlocked black 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan in the 2800 block of University Boulevard.

15 SUNDAY
At 3:41 a.m., Shanta Cheree Harris, 38, of Dallas was arrested in the 7100 block of Boedeker Street on a public intoxication charge. Others arrested on a public intoxication charge the same day included Alyssa Ann Burkett, 19, of Dallas at 4:35 a.m. in the 4300 block of Normandy Avenue; and John Batinovich, 21, of University Park at 4:59 a.m. in the 3400 block of McFarlin Boulevard.
