Jesuit was tested but not beaten in its bi-district playoff series against Mesquite. Now the Rangers will prepare for their next postseason test against Rowlett.

The Class 6A Region II area round series starts at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at John Paul II in Plano before shifting to Jesuit for Game 2 at 7 p.m. Friday. A third game, if necessary, would begin at 3 p.m. Saturday back at JPII.

The Rangers (28-1-2) stretched their winning streak to 19 games with a sweep of the Skeeters over the weekend. Jesuit’s 4-3 win in the opener included a walk-off hit by Darius Hill, and the Rangers rolled to an 11-1 win in Game 2.

Meanwhile, the Eagles advanced with a pair of one-run victories over Waco Midway, including 3-2 in 12 innings in the first game and 1-0 in the finale. Rowlett was third in District 11-6A during the regular season.

Also this weekend, W.T. White will challenge Rockwall after upsetting Mesquite Horn in two straight games last week. That series will take place at Tillery Field in Mesquite, with games at 7 p.m. Thursday and 4 p.m. Friday. A third game, if necessary, would be on Saturday at McKinney Boyd.
