A Jesuit graduate is one of the most visible leaders of a racist chant by members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity in a video that went viral over the weekend, causing the Preston Hollow school to issue a statement as part of the fallout.

The disturbing video, of course, led to the SAE chapter being terminated and two students, including one from Jesuit (whose identity and background you can learn here), being expelled from the university by OU president David Boren. It also prompted a series of campus rallies and protests.

“I am appalled by the actions in the video and extremely hurt by the pain this has caused our community. It is unconscionable and very sad that in 2015 we still live in a society where this type of bigotry and racism takes place,” said a statement from Jesuit president Mike Earsing. “All of us at Jesuit Dallas are deeply committed to create a culture of justice and equality for all.  This was certainly true when the school became the first in Dallas to integrate and it is true today. Unfortunately, isolated incidents throughout our society remind us that  there is still much work to be done.”
