Curtain Closes on Venerable Greenhill Theater

Let’s offer a final standing ovation to the Zale-Fields Theatre at Greenhill, which hosted its final student performance in front of sold-out crowds over the weekend with “The Addams Family.”

The venue will be closed this spring, and the space repurposed as part of a renovation of the campus dining hall. Members of the Zale and Fields families attended the final show and were recognized on stage afterward.

The theater, which debuted with “South Pacific” in 1975, was hailed upon its opening for its lighting, sound, and special-effects capabilities. A complete list of productions through the years can be found here.

Greenhill will open its new Marshall Family Performing Arts Center in the fall, which will include a 600-seat proscenium theater, a 150-seat studio theater, a video-production room, and a dance and choral hall.
