Skulduggery of the week: The Family Stole
At 5:07 p.m. on Jan. 3, a resident of the 3400 block of Purdue Street reported a suspicious maroon 2004 Lincoln Town Car in the alley. Police found the car, which was reported stolen out of Irving, but it sped away. By the time officers caught up, it had crashed into a tree and stop sign in the 3200 block of Southwestern Boulevard. The two suspects fled on foot, but were apprehended in a yard in the 3200 block of Greenbrier Drive thanks to tips from witnesses. Jaimie Lucien Harrell, 21, of Irving was arrested on charges of driving a stolen vehicle and reckless driving. Harrell’s mother, Jennifer Renee Kesterson, 38, of Dallas was the passenger and was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. The accident caused $5,000 in damage to the car, and $1,000 to the sign and tree.
Between 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 27 and 7 a.m. on Dec. 29, a thief stole 350 feet of copper wire, valued at $1,000, from a house under construction in the 4400 block of Highland Drive.
Between 4 a.m. on Dec. 28 and 10 a.m. on Dec. 29, a vandal broke into a 2001 Ford F-250 pickup in the 3500 block of Lexington Avenue by punching the door lock, but did not steal anything. A similar incident happened in the 3400 block of Harvard Avenue during the same time frame.
At 10:20 a.m., Abelardo Garcia, 22, was arrested in the 4500 block of Westway Avenue on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 10:32 a.m., Stephen A. Wambsganss, 52, of Southlake was arrested in the 4800 block of Lemmon Avenue on two drug possession charges.
At 12:45 a.m., Lilly Belle Wheeler, 18, of Highland Park was arrested in the 3400 block of Asbury Avenue on a public intoxication charge.
At 1 a.m., Chatasia Ivreon Johnson, 26, of Arlington was arrested at Park Cities Plaza on a charge of possession of marijuana.
Between midnight and 8 a.m., a burglar broke into a black 2014 Ford F-250 pickup in the 4300 block of Purdue Street and stole a $300 Kel-Tec semi-automatic handgun.
At 1:30 p.m., a thief stole a package containing a $150 pair of Sorel boots from the front porch of a house in the 2800 block of Stanford Avenue.
At 10:42 p.m., the driver of a gray 2014 Volkswagen Passat struck a pole at Hotel Lumen in the 6100 block of Hillcrest Avenue, causing about $200 in damage, then drove away.
At 3:20 a.m., Oliver Perry Newberry, 20, of Fort Worth and Anne Steakley Ream, 18, of Dallas were each arrested in the 3200 block of Southwestern Boulevard on charges of consumption of alcohol by a minor.
