The Dallas Heritage Village’s historic depot has been restored and is now open for tours.

The Kalman and Ida Wolens Foundation funded the restoration, which included a new roof, air conditioning, siding, and flat-car repairs, and paint by Ronald Sieber, who is known for his historic renovation work.

In addition, a new interactive exhibit displays the details of the railroads and allows visitors to explore the trunks of travelers, plan the routes, and learn morse code on a functioning telegraph.

The Dallas Heritage Village’s historic depot was restored in memory of Bennett Miller, who built affordable housing in historic commercial buildings during the 1980s. Bette Miller, his wife, is a board member of The Kalman & Ida Wolens Foundation.
