There was a more bittersweet tone than usual at the the Highland Park High School boys track and field banquet this month.

The banquet marked the end of the 11-year tenure of coach Randy Adair, who is retiring. He will be replaced by Todd John, who is rejoining the HP football and track staff after serving as athletic director in Crandall for the past two years.

Adair presented awards to several standouts for the Scots, including Andrew Clyde (Flying Scot Award), Jack Beitter and Jackson Clouse (Earl Young Leadership Award), Pearson Feagans (Most Valuable Athlete for Field Events), and Andrew Frost and Danny Leland (Most Valuable Athletes for Track Events).

The banquet also included an introduction of incoming team captains Feagans, Leland, Frost, Bill Rogers, Benjamin Walzel, and Nick Waterman.
