It was a big week in the pool for St. Mark’s water polo player Tim Simenc. Over the weekend, the junior led the Lions to a state title and was named MVP of the tournament.

That came a few days after Simenc became the first Texan to grab a spot on the USA Water Polo senior national team. The national team is typically loaded with players from both coasts, where water polo is more widespread at the high school level.

At any rate, Simenc will play in the Fisher Cup tournament on May 17-18 in San Diego, and will compete this summer in California to earn a place on the junior national travel team, which will play in the FINA Youth World Championships next year in Istanbul, Turkey.
