Did You Know There’s a Miss Park Cities?

Miss Park Cities
Monique Evans, aka Miss Park Cities
I recently learned that the title of Miss Park Cities was bestowed for the first time … in Garland. The organizers of the Miss Dallas pageant, which was held Nov. 23-24 at the Granville Arts Center, added a second title so they could put tiaras on two heads during one weekend.

Monique Evans, who was Miss Dallas 2013, is the inaugural Miss Park Cities. She’s a student at the University of Texas at Austin, and she went to high school in Naples, Fla.; in other words, she has absolutely no ties to the Park Cities. But if you know anything about beauty pageants, you’re not surprised by that. Former Park Cities People columnist Karley Osborn once held the title of Miss Twin Rivers, which is bestowed in Texarkana, and she grew up in Carrollton.

Speaking of Carrollton, a young lady from there named Paige Hill won the title of Miss Park Cities’ Outstanding Teen at the same pageant where Evans was crowned Miss Park Cities. They’ll both be moving on to the Miss Texas pageant this summer.

If any actual Park Cities women want to compete for these titles, here are the guidelines: Contestants for Miss Dallas and Miss Park Cities can be 17 to 24, but they must have completed their junior year of high school. The Outstanding Teen program is for ages 12 to 17, but high school seniors are not eligible. The next Miss Dallas & Miss Park Cities pageant is tentatively set for November. Another fun fact: I actually sold Monique the gown I wore at Miss Texas, and she wore it during the Miss Park Cities pageant. So there are just connections all over the place in this story 🙂 Good luck at Miss Texas, Monique!

Did Miss Evans ever “live” in the Park Cities of Dallas? I wonder what the residency rules are, if any.

@Paula – she’s never lived here, to the best of our knowledge. Residency requirements in the Miss Texas system are “open.”
