The start of the high school soccer season is less than a month away, and the Highland Park girls have a few different ways to get fans excited as they prepare for the opener.

Tonight, the Lady Scots will host their annual Dads and Daughters game, with the varsity taking the field at 7:30 p.m. at Highlander Stadium. Amid all the family bragging rights at stake, hopefully everyone will remember it’s only an exhibition and the only injuries are to the pride of the losing side.

The Lady Scots, of course, were the Class 4A state runner-up last season, so place your bets carefully.

The HP girls also will host their fourth annual elementary school clinic on Saturday. The free clinic for boys and girls from kindergarten through fourth grade will run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Highland Park indoor facility, adjacent to the football stadium.

The event will allow youngsters to get photos taken with the players — and their trophies — and have their team posters autographed. Space is limited to the first 120 children, so RSVP to Stewart Brown at [email protected].

The Lady Scots also will hold their annual alumni game on Jan. 4 as one of their final tuneups before regular season begins on Jan. 9.
