Disney Store Begins Each Day Dramatically

Have you ever been in NorthPark Center just before the doors to the Disney Store open? It’s quite a production.

An employee — or “cast member,” as they’re called there — comes outside and asks all of the children to line up. After getting their names, he asks them to help him wake up Tinkerbell by shouting “bippity boppity boo” as loud as they can. Once an animated Tinkerbell flitters by on a video screen, another cast member brings forth a giant key. After counting down backwards from five, all of the kids then help turn the key in a stanchion, which makes the ropes in front of the doors fall to the floor.

The hype certainly worked on my little Disney fan yesterday. He yelled “yes!” and did a little victory dance when he was finally allowed in.

Much to his disappointment, the hype did not change my plans to only look without buying anything.
