Ultimate Frisbee Headed to State Tournament

I knew Highland Park would have a chance to win some state championships in track and field Friday in Austin, but it wasn’t until I got an e-mail Wednesday afternoon that I discovered the Scots will also be vying for an ultimate Frisbee state title this weekend.

That’s right, ultimate Frisbee.

After starting up as a club sport at Highland Park in 2009, the ultimate Frisbee team missed advancing to last year’s state tournament by three points. But the Scots made it to this year’s state tourney, which will be held in Klein, in the Houston area.

Flower Mound is the defending state champion. The national governing body is USA Ultimate.
