Catherine Gordon Robinson and Emmett Durham Nelms were united in Holy Matrimony on Dec. 8, 2012, at St. Paul’s Memorial Episcopal Church in Charlottesville, Va. The ceremony was officiated by Dr. Peter Van Deison, assistant pastor at Park Cities Presbyterian Church. Dr. Marion Gordon Robertson, the grandfather of the bride, offered a blessing and a prayer over the  couple after they said their vows. Music for the nuptials was provided by The Commonwealth Brass with organist Albrecht von Gaudeker.

A seated dinner reception with dancing to the music of the Liquid Pleasure band followed at the Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville, Va. A rehearsal dinner on the eve of the wedding was hosted by the parents of the groom at Keswick Hall in Keswick, Va.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Henry Robinson Jr. of University Park. She is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Marion Gordon Robertson of Virginia Beach, Va.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Henry Robinson of Nashville, Tenn.; and the late Mrs. Susanne Wilson Robinson.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Donald Nelms Jr. of Atlanta. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Donald Nelms of Atlanta, Mrs. Emmett Howe Durham of Wilmington, N.C., and the late Mr. Emmett Howe Durham.

Presented in marriage by her parents, the bride was escorted down the aisle on the arm of her father. She wore a custom-designed Elizabeth Fillmore gown of ivory lace with a blush underlay from Warren Barrón Bridal. Her bridal bouquet was hand-tied with antique hydrangea, champagne garden roses, white peonies, and sahara roses. She finished her look with her mother’s antique wedding veil of Belgian lace, last worn on her parents’ wedding day exactly 33 years ago.

Attending the bride as maid of honor was Emily Susanne Robinson. Bridesmaids included Anna Louise Beall, Christina Leah Chorey, Sarah Allison Galpern, Anne Mullen Hazard, Mary Margaret Hoak, Elisabeth Hill Jordan, Margaret McCullough Long, Julie Owen Meyer, Margaret Charles Packer, Casey Lee Robinson, and Sarah Marshall Greene Thompson. The two greeters were Dylan Clark Mayfield and Katelin Walker McCrory. The Scripture reader was John Pierce Owings.

Assisting the groom as best man was his father, Frank Donald Nelms Jr. Groomsmen, who also acted as ushers, were James Davis Boice, Bradley Jay Butler Jr., Clarke Hutchins Crenshaw Jr., Travis Prescott Farmer, Gibbs Patton Fryer, Thomas Barrett Lee, Carter Brown McCrory, Frank Donald Nelms III, Robert Carswell Parsley, Charles Henry Robinson III, and Edward Ross Testerman.

The bride is a graduate of Highland Park High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Teaching from the University of Virginia, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Kappa Kappa Gamma. She is a kindergarten teacher in Denver.

The groom is a graduate of Woodberry Forest School in Woodberry Forest, Va. He received a Bachelor of Science in commerce with a concentration in finance from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of St. Anthony Hall. He is a private equity associate for Excellere Partners in Denver.

Following their wedding trip to Peter Island in the British Virgin Islands, the couple have made their home in Denver.
