Thief Takes Advantage of Open House

At 9:45 a.m. Sept. 18, a thief, posing as a realtor, used an open house to take a bottle of prescription pain killers from a house in the 3600 block of Normandy Avenue.

The man signed in at the realtors-only showing and asked to look around. He disappeared upstairs where the woman hosting the event said he was for quite some time.

Shortly after another realtor went up to see the house, he came back down to tell the agent that the thief had been looking through drawers in the master bathroom.

After confronting him with a few questions, the woman asked the thief to leave.

The owner of the home said all of the valuables seemed to be where he had left them, minus the bottle of prescription pain pills.

I had a friend who had an open house in the PC a few weeks ago and had jewelry stolen. The thief unlocked a bathroom window during the walk through and then came back and snuck in.

Personally, I would not have any open houses if I were selling mine right now. I hear this happens every week in our area.
