Last week, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football was released. For high school football fans in the Lone Star State, the magazine appearing on newsstands pretty much signals the near arrival of Friday nights under the lights.

Highland Park, which is coming off a 12-1 season, is ranked No. 4 in Class 4A in the publication’s state preseason poll. Denton Guyer, which is moving down from Class 5A, is ranked No. 1, followed by Cedar Park and Tyler John Tyler, which eliminated the Scots from the playoffs last season.

Highland Park is picked to win District 10-4A by Dave Campbell’s. The other three teams from the district picked to make the playoffs are West Mesquite, Mesquite Poteet, and Newman Smith.

The Scots open the regular season on Aug. 31 against Aledo in the Tom Landry Classic.
