St. Mark’s Hosts Summer Camp for Underprivileged

A couple of weeks ago, I profiled the Bickle & Brewer Foundation for their outstanding involvement in the community, by getting students from lower socioeconomic areas of Dallas into rigorous after school programs at St. Marks, Hockaday, ESD, and Greenhill.

Today, I found out St. Mark’s has a similar outreach program that caters to underprivileged boys in grades 6 and 7. For 19 years, the Brendan Court Summer Enrichment Program at St. Mark’s had provided free summer camp to young boys from lower socioeconomic areas of Dallas.

The director of the program, Curtis Smith, said the program teaches students basic core subjects, gives them experience with hands on labs, and takes them on excursions throughout town.

Smith said the program currently seeking students, and that there are 28 spots available for 6th graders and 28 spots available for 7th graders. For questions on the program, click here, or email [email protected]
