Hairston Facing Female Competition

James Hairston handles a kickoff for LSU last season.

Have you been following the story of Mo Isom, the female LSU student who is trying to earn a spot on the Tigers’ football team as a kicker? I ask only because one of the team’s established kickers, James Hairston, is from University Park.

Wasn’t one of his sisters was a pre-high-school pass/punt/kick star? If so, he should be OK with having female competition.

Read the story; unless she can knock in a 60 yarder every time, there is no competition. No sound minded football coach would waste roster space on a walk-on kicker when they have any kind of decent player already. Good story, but competition is a stretch.
