UP Citizen Fire Academy To Spark This Month

Do you like fire? Or, rather, do you hate fire and want to learn how to remove it from burning structures? This blog post is for you!

From UP maestro Steve Mace:

Open to persons 18 and older who live or work in University Park, the University Park Citizen Fire Academy involves 10 consecutive Tuesday night classes. The first class will take place March 20. Each class will run from 7 to 9 p.m. Academy participants will receive hands-on training and get an up-close look at department functions, including emergency medical services, firefighter hiring and training and special rescue operations training. Classes will be held at the Fire Station at 3800 University Blvd. and the UPFD drill field. During the ten-week course, each Academy participant will also ride on the engine to emergency calls.

The program is open to the first 12 persons who sign up. Those who want to take the course, or have questions about course requirements and structure, should call 214-987-5380.

Soon you’ll be doing stuff like this:

Now, who doesn’t love fire?
