UP Library Adds Books, With La Fiesta’s Help

La Fiesta chairs Lillian Dona and Rebecca Beasley, visitors Micha and Marley Frazier, Friends chair Susan Hall, and children’s librarian Kitty St. Claire display recently acquired kids books.

Even though the University Park Public Library is in a state of flux, with construction of its new home in The Plaza at Preston Center just getting started while its current home near Snider Plaza is caught in a tug-of-war between City Hall and Legacy Hillcrest Investments, the library is still adding to its children and teens collection.

The 2011 chairs of La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas, Rebecca Beasley and Lillian Dona, recently presented the University Park Public Library with a grant for the acquisition of such books.

“La Fiesta has been a longtime, generous supporter of the UP Public Library,” said Rita Clinton, grants vice president for the Friends of the University Park Public Library board.

In fact, La Fiesta has returned more than $5.4 million to organizations vital to the Park Cities since the debutante ball was founded in 1986.

Most of the books I check out from UPPL have the La Fiesta donation bookplate on the inside cover so a big THANK YOU to that organization!
