DISD Pushes Back The Clock on School Hours

Fifteen minutes may not seem like a lot of time. But if you’re a snoozing teenager, it’s an eternity. Starting in August, most DISD schools will have their schedules adjusted by 15 precious minutes. This luxury is made possible by the district’s large deficit, which eliminated teacher’s collaborative planning periods.

High schools, middle schools, elementary schools, and pre-kindergarten programs will start and end 15 minutes later, while Vanguard and Montessori schools will have no change. Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts will get a 5 minute bump, from 8:55 to 9 a.m. For all the new school schedules, go to the jump.

• Full-day prekindergarten 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

• Half-day prekindergarten 8:15 a.m. to 11:15 p.m. and 12:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
