Rise and Shine, Park Cities (4-28-11)

1. The Junior League of Dallas is celebrating its 90th anniversary, and on Monday will announce the winner of its Lifetime Achievement Award (that invite is for members only, naturally, but I’ve been given the go-ahead to link to it).

The lady of honor is from the Park Cities, says JLD spokeswoman Valerie Bell. Any guesses as to her identity?

2. The folks over at Scardello Artisan Cheese are taking a field trip Saturday, and inviting the public to hop on a tour bus (for a fee), and visit Brazos Valley and the Heritage Homestead in Waco, where you’ll see cheese-making, blacksmithing, and a working gristmill. The jaunt includes lunch, a trip to a nearby goat-cheese facility/farm, and a wine and cheese reception. For more about upcoming events at Scardello, click here.

3. Hmm. So I got a pretty atypical press release this week: Dr. Jack Gunter, of Highland Park, is co-editor of Dallas Rhinoplasty: Nasal Surgery by the Masters,* and celebrating the book’s recent translation into Chinese. That, and the fact that he’s officially operated on 5,000 noses.

*Sounds like a full-color coffee table book, right? It’s a surgery manual.
