Don’t Bring Your Scottie to Pearce

The Highland Park baseball team is scheduled to visit their rivals at Pearce a week from Friday. If you’re planning to attend, leave your pets at home. They’re not welcome under a new Pearce policy reported by The Dallas Morning News.

My first question: Do lots of people bring their dogs and/or cats to high school sporting events?

I can’t recall ever seeing a cat at a high school baseball game, but I’ve seen people bring their dogs many times. Not so much at Scotland Yard, though.

I guess if you’re not in bleachers, I could see this being OK. Otherwise, seems like a liability and a potential mess. And this is coming from a dog lover.

RISD does not charge admission for baseball games. It’s a very neighborhood-oriented feel with many people that just stroll by (perhaps out exercising the dog) and watch some of the game. That may have something to do with the policy.

I remember receiving e-mails from the elementary school informing us of the HPISD policy – no dogs on campus. Some kids are fearful of dogs and some have allergies so best to leave Fido at home.

@sls – plus the fact that many dog owners don’t clean up after their pets. Not much fun to walk into school with poo on your shoe, and you sure don’t want kids getting into the car with it after school, either.
