HP Alumn Floyd Dakil Will Dance No More

Floyd Dakil died Saturday night. Now, that name may not be all that familiar, but back in the 60’s when Lou Ann’s was the hot spot at Greenville and Lovers Lane, Floyd was just a HP student and a member of band, the Floyd Dakil Combo.

Then overnight Floyd and his band shot to fame with Dance, Franny, Dance. In the years that followed, he recorded other 45 RPM’s and played guitar for Louis Prima.  And while Floyd never achieved the fame of the Beach Boys, Supremes or Elvis, he was a Dallas representative in the world of Top 40’s.

Our sincere condolences go to his family and friends.

As a booking agent for over 25 years, Floyd Dakil was one of my top performers and always did an excellent job for me wherever I booked him. I am saddened by his death, which I just now discovered. I had Floyd on my tv show in the early 90s and he was a hit then. God bless Floyd’s family and friends. He will be sorely missed forever!
