Mystery of the Snider Plaza Stump

An Overheardian and lifelong Parkie finally speaks his mind about the oddly placed stump in Snider Plaza between Park Cities Bank and Bank of America.

I swear I have been stepping over this parking bump on the sidewalk since I was a little boy. I’m curious about it’s story, how did it get there, what is it’s purpose, how did it attain such lofty status that it has not been removed in 30 years? It is truly an icon in the crazy random landscape of Snider Plaza pedestrian access.

I notice there is no crosswalk across the intersection either, which is one of my pet peeves. What would it cost to throw some paint down to make people safer?

Just call the city traffic department about this.
I called once on a problem and they came out and made the repairs.

TS, I called the city on this over a year ago as I have a little boy in a wheel chair and this makes navigating the intersection a bit more challenging (see where to poles are also placed), and to no avail. Thanks for whoever sent this in. Maybe its time to drop another message in.

Sorry Merritt, I just couldn’t wait for someone to bow to your awesomeness, (although they really should anyway). I sent in the following service request today:

There is a parking stump/barrier standing on the sidewalk blocking the handicapped access ramp on the southwest corner of the Rankin and Hillcrest intersection in front of Park Cities Bank.

Lets see if that works. Out of curiousity, how many service requests are we allowed to send in? Because that could keep me very busy….
